Community Relations-Anne Arundel, Crownsville House
Date Posted: May 18, 2009
We were pleased to have had members of the Fairfield Loop homeowners association, among other neighbors to our house last week. On their tour with the Senior Program Director Ray Brown, they got the chance to see our modern technology equipment used to create our safe and nurturing therapeutic community. Hourly checks as well as surveillance cameras that can be viewed by various senior staff on and off site are great ways of re-enforcing the importance of focusing solely on treatment while at Second Genesis. Without the distractions of outside influences, our clients may flourish in their path towards recovery. Addiction education, job skills training, and a variety of clinical sessions result in a comprehensive schedule to support the journey into recovery. Throughout our forty years serving the public in the Mid-Atlantic region, we have always educated our neighbors about the success of therapeutic communities in facilitating clients become productive members of society. Currently, we are aware of four other providers of treatment services that share the Crownsville estate grounds with us. Although we may forge friendships with these other groups moving forward, our therapeutic community model’s disciplined approach to maintaining a private house keeps us a bit too structured for regular interaction with the outside community. We welcome community members from local church and civic groups to contact us to schedule a special event. You may reach us by filling out the form at secondgenesis.org/contact.
