Second Genesis is among the best in the nation. In the Drug Abuse Treatment Outcomes Study, the largest federally funded study of substance abuse treatment programs, the best programs only 65% of clients were retained an average of 90 days. Second Genesis retains 77% of its clients 90 days or more. Longer retention in treatment is the most consistent predictor of favorable drug abuse outcomes. Favorable outcomes include reduced substance use, increased employment, decreased criminal behavior and homelessness.

the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) 3-year accreditation

Second Genesis believes its clients deserve a treatment program with integrity, backed with accreditation. This is why we have sought and earned accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF). Choosing Second Genesis at the highest level for any CARF accredited program (3-years) means we have passed an in-depth review of our services. Our programs have demonstrated that they meet internationally recognized standards. We make a commitment to continually enhance the quality of our programs and services, while focusing on the patients that we serve.

Therapeutic Communities of America (TCA)

Pioneered in the late 1950’s, the therapeutic community movement spread across the nation bringing a way out of self-destructive behavior for those who were thought often to be beyond recovery. TCA was founded in 1975 as a non-profit membership association for therapeutic communities across the United States and Canada. As the oldest therapeutic community in the tri-state area of Washington DC, Second Genesis has worked closely with TCA to increase awareness of the model in collaboration with a consortium of over 600 member programs. The President have continuously been on the advisory board of the Therapeutic Communities of America.
